Welcome to BIOL 426/626 Approaches to Molecular Biology

This site will be the source of information about the class.

Starting in the mid-20th century, molecular biology has taken a central place in the development of a new type of  biological sciences—more analytical, less phenomenological and focused on understanding the flow of information through the cell. The techniques developed by molecular biologists have been so powerful that they have been adopted and used by scientists in a wide range of disciplines, from biochemistry and cell biology to evolution and ecology. This course will provide a grounding in 21st century molecular biology with a focus on the tools of molecular biology presented in the context of recent and current research science.
